Hello! I am Miss Michelle, Teacher and Co-founder of The Learning Sandbox. It has long been a dream of mine to start a preschool offering a fun and nurturing environment to help young minds grow and learn.

I have been working with young children and families since 2009. The first position I held as a teen while in high-school was at a childcare center and I continued to work at childcare centers throughout my undergraduate career. After working at childcare centers I moved on to positions in Social Work that were more closely related to my undergraduate degree in Psychology. For 7 years, I have worked directly with parents and guardians of young children between the ages or 0-5 years of age providing workshops based on development, discipline, brain development and school readiness. Throughout my time in this position I have had the opportunity to learn so much about how young children grow and learn. I strongly believe that children need patience, care, a stimulating environment and the room to make mistakes and be respected in those mistakes so that they can best develop academically. I am very excited to be able to provide a safe environment to help your child best prepare for their academic career!

Hello! I am Miss Melinda, Teacher and Co-founder of The Learning Sandbox. I hold a bachelors degree in Psychology and an Elementary Teaching Certificate. I have had the wonderful opportunity of working for Mesa Public School District in an Elementary School where I taught third grade for two years and then PreK and Preschool for an additional two years in Scottsdale Unified School District.

I understand that students learn best in small group environments where they are able to be given the opportunity to participate in hands-on instruction and to receive one on one support. Children at this age learn best through play, repetition, and exploration. A small class environment allows for every child to shine and develop strong bonds that help them discover the confidence to make mistakes and collaborate with others. I'm excited for this year's upcoming group to develop strong friendships from playing and exploring together.

I am looking forward to using my skills and experience as a teacher to create valuable activities and experiences for little ones at the Learning Sandbox home preschool.
